October Newsletter 2016
Where has the year gone to? That's what we're all saying round about this time of year isn't it? With every year that passes it seems that time is getting hastier. 2016 has seen no exception. Which is why we need to stop every now and again and remind ourselves once more that life is short and putting off all the things that we want to do eventually just leads to regrets. So...no time like the present!
Here's a bit about what we've been up to this last month and also a peak into a few exciting activities to come....
LESOTHO ADVENTURE TOUR 24 - 27 November 2016
Every South African should get to experience a Lesotho adventure at least once in a lifetime. A day's ride from Johannesburg, the mountain kingdom and land of the 'blanket people' offers majestic mountain views and some amazing adventure motorcycle riding. Jo Rust Adventures will be hosting a 4-day, fully supported adventure tour of Lesotho in partnership with SA Adventure. You will have the services of Jo Rust as tour leader on the tour, along with a qualified medic and an experienced back up driver in the support truck. We'll make use of lodge accommodation on the tour with breakfasts and dinners included. We have 9 spaces left on this tour! For more information and to book your place on the tour CLICK HERE.
OFF-ROAD MOTORCYCLE TRAINING
We hosted our first 1-day introductory off-road motorcycle riding course on the 8th of October at our new off-road training facility next to Hennops off-road trail, out on the R511 towards Hartbeespoort. The training starts out with coffee and rusks and brief introductions and is then followed by getting into the theory behind off-road motorcycle riding. We had 5 course participants join us for the day and it just so happened that on this course we had 4 lady riders! Steve was the lucky lone male rider on the day and expressed his admiration for the ladies' gusto!
The 1-Day Introduction to off-road motorcycle riding course is where you lay the foundation to be built upon for the rest of your adventure motorcycle riding career. It's a jam-packed day with the main focus being on the fundamentals of off-road riding. For dates and more information on our 1-Day Introductory courses - CLICK HERE. Here's some feedback we received from some of the course participants: I have attended GS rider training from a number of certified BMW instructors over the years and Jo is right up there with the best of them. Her manner is relaxed and learning from her is easy. Her attention to detail is precise and sequential. As a guy and an experienced rider I found her manner amiable, useful and encouraging. I thoroughly enjoyed my day at Hennops with her." - Steve Eilertsen
Jo Rust : the self confidence, proficiency, enthusiasm and love you presented the training with -fired up my own love for riding- Continue to spread this joy, strength and passion for riding....You are a winner!!!! - Martie van Eeden
Slowly but surely I am building more confidence as a rider tar & off-road. The fact that you are such an amazing instructor really made me realise that my dreams of becoming a more proficient rider are possible ( being very cautious and over thinking movement, obstacles & speed ) , with the correct skills, guidance & practice I can be better & safer, have fun and more adventures. Thanks for being part of my journey by passing on your knowledge & and for being an inspiration.

Parys Outride October 2016
Apart from our training and tours, we also host outrides of varying degrees of difficulty every two months to different locations in and around Gauteng. The last ride we hosted started from the Sasol garage on the N12 near Lenasia, following gravel roads for most of the way to Parys for breakfast. We always recce the routes before a ride and try and find some new and exciting tracks to keep it interesting. The outride to Parys was suitable for beginner riders and pillions as well with a 'Green' rating. We covered about 70% of the route on gravel and 30% on tar. The off-road sections varied from newly graded wide gravel roads to railway service tracks. Our next outride will take place on Sunday 13 November. Keep a lookout on our FACEBOOK PAGE and the blog here on our website for news on where we'll be heading next.
